- Requirements
Speed test.
- Spoiler:
[speedtestnet][/speedtestnet]
Quest The completion of the quest “Making The Secret Medicine For Transformation” is the most important requirement. If not completed you will be unable to enter Horntail’s cave. The items required for the completion of this quest are as follows :
* 10 Dragon skins (found at wyverns [red i find is quickest]) * 1 Cornian Dagger (search for “Broken Dagger” from Cornians and also obtain 1 steel plate and 1 mithril plate. Then go to leafre’s weapon shop to forge the dagger) * 1 Cornian’s Marrow (found at Cornians) * 1 Skull Shoulder Pad (found from Dark Cornians) * 1 Manon’s Cry (found from Manon, do not procrastinate on getting your cry.)
Be sure that the quest is ACTIVATED before you search for the items required for the quest completion otherwise the items will be impossible to find. DO NOT COMPLETE THE QUEST UNTIL YOU ARE ACTUALLY READY TO ENTER THE CAVE because if you complete the quest you will transform into a Cornian and WILL LOSE the items you collected and if you do stay there and wait then warn one of us.
Class requirements Ranged classes (Night Lords(NL), Bowmasters(BM), Marksman(MM), Corsairs(CS))
* HP + HB = 7,800+ (HP without HB = 4,900+) * NL: I suggest at least lvl 10 shadow claw + 18-20 sets of stars (if you have a higher level shadow claw you can bring less, though I recommend against that so bring 18-20 sets anyways) * BM+MM: I would hope for a decent level sharp eyes and maxed will be highly appreciated as it does improve the speed of the run * Corsairs: What would be nice is max battle ship and/or maxed rapid fire. I also suggest 20+ sets of bullets if you are afraid of using your ship.
Melee classes (Heroes, Dark Knights (Drks), Paladins(Pals), Buccaneers (BCN)
* HP + HB = 14,000+ (HP without HB = 8,500+) * Warriors should have 150+ accuracy + bless * Minimum of lvl 10 stance * Drks MUST have MAXED HB * Buccaneers minimum of lvl 1 Time Leap
Mages/ Evan
* 12,000 MP (without HB) * Maxed Magic Guard
Bishops
* 10,000 MP (without HB) * Max Magic Guard * Max Heal * Max Invincible * Max Dispel * Max Bless * Max Resurrect (would be nice but lvl 1 is also ok) * Max Holy Symbol (not actually required but everyone wants more exp) * Max Holy Shield (not actually required, but it helps)
Shadowers
* HP + HB = 6,500+ (HP without HB = 4,100+) * Max Dark Sight, Meso Guard * Shadow Shifter minimum of lvl 10 (preferably maxed)
Seduce Mule
* Preferably a warrior or Shadower (Highest avoid rate in game) * Shadower requirements are the same as listed in the above section * Seduce Warriors should have minimum 18,000-20,000 HP with HB (11,500-12,000 without HB) * Seduce warriors also should have 30 stance - Quote :
- Potions
All Classes are recommended to bring a minimum of the following potions: (These are set for in preparation of "the worst case scenario.")
* Ranged classes – 1,000+ Ginger Ale (less if you have quite a bit of power elixers)/ 400+ Power Elixirs, 600+ mp potions and 100-200 all cures (you may bring extra ginger ales and power elixirs to recover mp if you don want to carry just mp healing potions) * Night Lords/ Corsairs recharge your stars, carry at least about 3hours worth of training stars. * Melee Classes – 600+ Ginseng roots/ Hornsters, 600+ mana potions and 100-200 all cures (you may bring extra ginger ales and power elixirs to recover mp if you don't want to carry just mp healing potions) * Mages or Evans – 900+ Ginger Ale/ and a few Power Elixirs and 100-200 all cures * Bishops – 500-800+ Ginger Ale/Power Elixirs (Optional: Bring 40-50 All cures) * Seduce mule – 500 hp potions, 500mp potions and 50 all cures
Special Advice: Ranged/melee classes 900-1000 ginger ales and 200-300 power elixirs make the best choice for pot use, use ginger ales during stages 1 & 2, power elixirs during Stage Three Part 1: Legs+Tail then back to ginger ales for the rest of the battle. For warriors, I have used only 400 Ginseng roots in a two hour run, an excess of potions may not be necessary, but be cautious. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Boss info (Summary of what Horntail does)- Spoiler:
So first thing to know? The Horntail boss fight happens in 3 main parts, however the final part happens to have multiple parts that will be taken down one piece at a time.
Horntail’s Preliminary Head 1 (Stage 1)
* On the left side of the map there will be falling rocks which hit 2,000 damage (avoidable as long as you don’t stand underneath them) * 16,000 touch damage (though you have to be really unlucky to take touch) * First attack : I call it the “sneeze” attack. It knocks back and deals about 5,300 damage. Be aware that the falling rocks on the left can kill you after this attack if you do not pot in time. * Second attack : Falling icicles which, if hit, deals the 1/1 HP/MP attack (which you can avoid by jumping) * Ability one: Weapon lock (all physical attacks do 1 damage) * Ability two: Magic lock (all magic attacks do 1 damage) * Ability three: Wyvern summons according to head’s HP. Red at 75% HP, Blue 50% HP and Black 25% HP. Keep in mind BLACK wyverns can DISPEL
Horntail’s Preliminary Head 2 (Stage 2)
* See “Horntail’s Preliminary Head 1” with the exception, this map is the mirror image of the first preliminary head so the falling rocks are now on the right side of the map. Same cautions still apply.
Horntail’s Main Body (Stage 3)
What you need to know about stage 3 is the body consists of a few parts which are as follows :
* Legs: 14,000 touch damage. It has 2 main stomp attacks. First being a knock back attack similar to the preliminary heads attacks and second being a stun. Both attacks do 7,700 damage and 9,800 when powered up. * Tail: 30,000+ touch damage. It has a poison attack that you can just ignore. Also it swings its tail up and down so watch out. * Wings: if you take touch I’ll slap you, lol (they are far enough to never fall into them). They are capable of summoning cornians but the real problem with them is the attack up that it casts, so after they die… YAY =D. * Left + Right Heads: 16,000 touch damage. These are pretty much exactly like the First 2 heads, just they don’t do that super knock back attack. * Middle Head: 24,000 touch damage. More HP then the left and right heads but once it gets below 50% hp it starts casting whole map dispel. * Left + Right Arms: 8,000 touch damage. These cast random status effects (darkness, seal, exp decrease, no jump) and their most irritating skill which does 1 damage and reduces MP by about 2,000. Finally, once they are below 50% HP they mass seduce which seduces the first 10 people to enter horntail’s cave.
Also keep in mind that the body parts that are listed above are listed in order of how they will be destroyed.

| Full Guide - Quote :
- First and foremost, before even entering the cave pay close attention to whoever is organizing. You are all going to sign up in a very particular order as follows:
* Seduce Mule * Back up seduce mules * Warriors * Mages / Evans * Attacker/range * Bishops
The leader will call out everyone one by one. At this point make sure that you are LISTENING to the organizers and follow their instructions. While the organizers are listing people to sign up pay attention to hear your name and once your name is called to sign up please call out “Signed Up” so that the organizer knows that you are on the list and can move on to calling the next name to be on the sign up list. Also when you guys are headed into the cave and your name is called to enter, call out “Going In” so that the organizer is aware of your entrance and can move on to the next name to enter. Remember that there is a timer, so listen carefully and pay attention so everyone enters efficiently and quickly. Preliminary (Fake) Heads: - Spoiler:
Stage One: Horntail’s Preliminary Head 1 Head touch damage: 18,000 clean Minimum HP needed to survive this part : 5,500. When you enter the cave, DO NOT MOVE! Wait until everyone has come in. This is to ensure that you do not accidentally summon the head when not everyone is in causing anyone who may lag entering the cave to die upon entrance. Once everyone is in the seduce mule will go right and hang on the rope at the highest point as possible. After they get on the rope, Horntail’s Left Head will enter the cave. This stage is incredibly easy all you have to do is attack away at it and make sure you pot after every knock back. Also if you see Black Wyverns appear be aware that they are capable of dispelling. * Range job at this point: Attack * Melee job at this point: Attack * Bishop job at this point: Heal and make sure mg is on * Drks job at this point: Attack and Keep HB up * Mages job at this point: Attack and take care of all mobs upon appearance. * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: hang on rope x] Once the head dies and you enter the portal to the right, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB. If you do not YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT. Stage Two: Horntail’s Preliminary Head 2 Head touch damage: 18,000 clean Minimum HP needed to survive this part : 5,500. This is exactly the same as stage one except instead of seduce mule grabbing the furthermost rope they are now to hang on the closest rope to where you enter. The seduce mule WILL get knocked off 3-5 times so Bishops in seduce party be AWARE that this will happen and be ready to follow and heal. * Range job at this point: Attack * Melee job at this point: Attack * Bishop job at this point: Heal and make sure mg is on * Drks job at this point: Attack and Keep HB up * Mages job at this point: Attack and take care of all mobs upon appearance. * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: hang on rope, and let your bishop know that you’ve been knocked off Once the Head dies and you enter the portal to the left, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT. - Quote :
- Before Stage Three
Yeah, you made it this far and as a reward, you get a break. Well, you don’t need to take it but since the next portion of the fight is going to be long, I suggest at this time everyone go take a quick break and get yourself ready to have the fight of your lives. It is going to take about an hour to an hour and a half. Stage Three Part 1: Legs + Tail - Spoiler:
Horntails Tail touch damage: 24,000 clean Minimum HP to survive at this part : 9,800 for melee attackers (Unless your washed range) and 7,800 for Normal Ranged At this point, the ranged attackers (plus their HB mule Drks =[ ) are going to head to the right side of the map and try their very best to stay underneath the falling rocks (please note for the ranged attackers, if u don’t stay under the rocks you WILL die as the tail hits close to 30,000 damage) The bishop on the right will need to stay as far right as possible and spam heal while hiding underneath the falling rocks.(note that the bishop on the Right side must have over 2,500HP and 18,000 MP with HB in case you may need to cross the tail). Horntails Legs touch damage : 14,500 clean 10,000 stomp - Quote :
Long range must stand behind the rope. The sequence of striking Hornedtail (that is recommended is): Get hit by the rock, attack, backjump, repeat. View the image to get a good idea of what you have to work with and to estimate distances. Picture is made to scale. While Range is attacking the tail, the melee attackers are going to stay on the left side and attack (please note for the melee attackers, if you don’t have at least 14,000 HP be very careful as to not bump into the legs because they will kill you). The Seduce party will stay on the melee attackers side and the seduce mule will try to stay on the rope that is there, unless it’s a seduce shadower in which case must be in dark sight, and must have Meso Guard on. Bishops in the seduce party are required to do what they’ve been doing – healing the seduce mule. At this point, one bishop will be on the left side while the other will be on the right side. * Range job at this point: Jump Attack and stay under the rocks. BM are not allowed to use hurricane and CS are not allowed to be using rapid fire as it may cause you to disconnect so strafe and battleship ftw xD * Melee job at this point: Attack, try not to take touch if you don’t have 14,000 HP * Bishop job at this point: Heal and make sure mg is on. Seduce party bishops will be split up, one on the left and one on the right. The right bishop will have to jump and heal trying to say against the right wall and under the rocks, while the one on the left will just need to spam heal. (Take off Mana reflection it triggers stomp for an unknown cause.) * Drks job at this point: Keep HB up (those of you in the Long range parties DON’T attack unless you know what your doing) * Mages job at this point : Attack and take care of all mobs upon appearance. (Do not use Chain Lightning, or attacks that fly across the map). * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: Pray, because your life right now depends 100% on your bishops * No summons at all at this point (Cant help it can you Evans?) Once the Tail dies, Windows Vista/ 7 users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT. Also again once the legs die, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT.
Stage Three Part 2: Wings - Spoiler:
Horntail’s Wings touch: 11,000 * You can’t instantly be killed anymore (unless you aren’t careful and don’t notice you’ve been dispelled). All attackers are now going to climb up the rope on the right side and its time to clip Horntail’s wings. After the wings are down Long range no longer needs HB (It's still nice though) * Range job at this point: Attack wings from lowest platform on the right side * Melee job at this point: Attack wings from small platform closest to wings on right side * Bishop job at this point: Heal, make sure mg is on (seduce bishop continue to keep seduce mule alive) * Drks job at this point: Keep HB up (those of you in attack parties you may now attack) * Mages job at this point: Attack and take care of all mobs upon appearance. * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: Move to the right side and hang on the rope there (continue praying) Once the Wings die, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT.
Stage Three Part 3: Horntail’s Right Head Stage Three Part 4: Horntail’s Left Head Stage Three Part 5: Horntail’s Middle Head - Spoiler:
Stage Three Part 3: Horntail’s Right HeadHorntail’s Right Head touch damage: 15,000 It’s pretty much the same as the heads you found in stage 1 and 2 except for one thing, no knock back attack (Yayy ^.^). You are now going to go to the highest platform on the right side if you are a ranged attacker and if you are a melee attacker you are going to go on the highest small platform on the right side. One thing to be aware of the head summons wyverns of all colours depending on its HP. Red wyverns start to be summoned once it is at 75% HP, Blue wyverns at 50% HP and Black wyverns at 25% HP. Again though I mentioned it before black wyverns do have the ability to dispel so be careful. * Range job at this point: Attack head from highest platform on the right side * Melee job at this point: Attack head from highest small platform on right side * Bishop job at this point: Heal, make sure mg is on (seduce bishop continue to keep seduce mule alive) * Drks job at this point : Attack and Keep HB up * Mages job at this point: Attack and take care of all mobs upon appearance. * Seduce Mule’s job at this point : Move to the left side and hang on the rope there (hope your still praying) Once Horntail’s Right Head dies, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT. Stage Three Part 4: Horntail’s Left HeadHorntail’s Left Head touch damage: 15,000 Exactly the same as the Right head, except move to the opposite side you were just on. * Range job at this point: Attack head from highest platform on the left side * Melee job at this point: Attack head from highest small platform on left side * Bishop job at this point: Heal, make sure mg is on (seduce bishop continue to keep seduce mule alive) * Drks job at this point: Attack and Keep HB up * Mages job at this point: Attack and take care of all mobs upon appearance. * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: Move to the right side and hang on the rope there (hope you’re still praying) Once Horntail’s Left Head dies, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT. Stage Three Part 5: Horntail’s Middle HeadHorntails Middle Head touch damage: 18,000 Alright so this is almost the same as Left + Right heads with the added bonus of its ability to full map dispel (woohooo F7). Lucky for us this doesn’t happen often so just make sure you pay attention to your skill buffs. * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: Stay where you are, if you end up getting knocked off once seduce runs out run back to the rope on the right side Once Horntail’s Middle Head dies, Windows Vista users ALT + TAB again. If you do not, again I say this, YOU CAN AND WILL DISCONNECT.
Stage Three Part 6: Horntail’s Left and Right Arms - Spoiler:
Horntails Left Arm: 230,000,000 Horntails Right Arm: 230,000,000 YES! You have now made it to the end and I know you are tired but victory is in sight just as long as nobody disconnects you have got this Horntail fight in the bag. All the arms can do to you now is 1 HP damage and 2,000 MP damage to you and I know what you are thinking, you are right, it is pathetic. But its not that easy since at 50% HP, the arms’ mass seduce comes into effect where 10 people will get seduced at the same time. Lucky for you if you had a good organizer you already know who those 10 will be. Yep they are the first 10 people that went inside to Horntail’s cave (first 10 that signed up). So now that you know this, have those people hang on a rope while the attacking parties take out the arms. Yes it is possible for those 10 people to attack as well, but who wants to risk that? Its much safer for everyone and on top of that your main attacking parties are most definitely going to double drop so you don’t want to attack and ending up ruining the double Drop. * Range job at this point: Attack the arms from lowest platform on the right and left side * Melee job at this point: you guys are most likely seduced just hang on a rope a celebrate * Bishop job at this point: Heal, make sure mg is on (seduce bishop continue to keep seduce mule alive) * Drks job at this point: Keep HB up stop attacking * Mages job at this point: You guys are most likely seduced as well so find yourself a rope * Seduce Mule’s job at this point: After one arm dies move to the side it died on and hang on the rope there. Now you may think I was being redundant always telling vista users to ALT + TAB well for this last part it’s a bit different. Once one of the arms die ALT + TAB and then when the other one is about to die ALT + TAB one last time.
